For those of us who are over 70 ½ years old, there is an IRS rule that allows us to give to our favorite charity (Buda United Methodist Church) and limit our tax liability. It is called Qualified Charitable Distribution (QDC). This is how it works: if you have investments in an IRA, you can send your gift directly to the charity of your choice and it is non-taxable. It’s simple, easy, and helpful to you and your church. Talk with your financial advisor and consider the option of supporting Buda UMC out of your QDC or yearly required minimum distribution (RMD).
