Each year, as we journey through the Christian Calendar, we walk together through the season of Lent. As the United Methodist tradition indicates, Lent is a time of repentance, fasting, and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. In the early church, Lent began as a period of fasting and preparation for baptism by new converts and then became a time of penance for all Christians.
This year, you are invited to walk alongside Pastors Jeannie and Matt as we prepare our hearts and minds through a Lenten Study about the Atonement. As Christians, we believe that Jesus’ death on the cross was an act of God’s saving love. But how? And why? And what does that mean for our own lives?
